IMG 9218Calling carpenters, electricians, and plumbers!  National Rebuilding Day (NRD) is coming up on April 30th and we need your help. (We also have projects on April 27th, May 6th, and May 11th.) On NRD, Rebuilding Together Boston is celebrating its 25th year of supporting low-income homeowners, and non-profits that serve them, with critical repairs and renovations to allow them to stay in a safe and healthy home and environment. This year, Rebuilding Together Boston will complete eight projects during National Rebuilding Week, bringing together 350 volunteers to serve homeowners and communities in need in neighborhoods across the city including in Roxbury, Dorchester, Roslindale, Jamaica Plain, Brighton, Mattapan, and Hyde Park.

National Rebuilding Day is part of a month-long national call to service during the entire month of April, culminating with National Rebuilding Day, the last Saturday in April. Nearly 20,000 volunteers will serve on over 700 affiliate-led community revitalization projects throughout the month. We will be helping families such as Prince and Ora, who have lived in their Roslindale home for 19 years. A heart attack in 2008 affected Prince’s mobility. His physical limitations combined with the family’s social security income, mean that they haven’t been able to keep pace with the needs of their aging home. Last year’s brutal Boston winter took a toll on the house, severely damaging 10 windows, making the task of home repairs even more daunting.

Can we count on you to help us this year with the homes and nonprofits located across the city neighborhoods?

Please let me know if you are able to give a couple of hours or more on any of those dates and be part of an inspirational day of giving back.

We can't do it without you.
