Rejoice! Winter is over, summer is here, the first 6 months of EM NARI meetings were outstanding and the remodeling market is back. Remodelers are hiring again and report significant backlogs of work. Reports on industry growth from Harvard Housing predict 2014 will be a great year.
In May we saw over 160 people come to the Houzz dinner meeting event. The vibrancy of remodelers and vendors in the room signifies that EM NARI is an organization that professional remodelers need to join. Thanks to our sponsor Metropolitan Cabinets, the EM NARI staff, committee members, our panel, and hosting partner ASID, the night was a huge success. We learned that if you are a remodeler you need to be on Houzz to attract top quality leads. We also learned that our pictures should be of the highest quality and a profile on Houzz.com is FREE.
NARI certification trainings were completed in May and all students passed their exams. Who said contractors weren’t smart? The certification classes included Certified Lead Carpenter (CLC), Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler (CKBR), Certified Remodeling Project Manager (CRPM), and Universal Design Certified Professional (UDCP). The certificates will be handed out in September.
Our annual golf outing will be held in Harvard at the Shaker Hills Golf Club on September 17th, 2014. Our golf captain Bill Farnsworth of Custom Contracting is doing his usual outstanding job putting this event together. Bill says now is the time to sign up to play and we are looking for support from our vendors to sponsor holes and other promotions at the event.
Since January, EM NARI has added 25 new members to our organization. We are now growing the membership gaining new members who are seeking to be part of an organization of like-minded professionals. In January, I challenged EM NARI members to bring two guests sometime this year to a meeting. To those of you who have done so, great job! For the rest of you, there are four more dinner meetings to meet the goal.
In June we announced that binders for the upcoming CotY awards are available. Now is the time to think about entering your projects. CotY awards provide great marketing for your company and help to educate your prospects about your services. In our June dinner meeting we had professional photographers attend. One key point we learned at the Houzz event is the importance of professional photography. Line up your photo shoots early and complete your binders before the end of the year.
In closing, I wish you and your employees enjoy a great summer and look forward to seeing you in September.
Mark Paskell, EM NARI President The Contractor Coaching Partnership Inc.
