Our Program: Thanks to our speaker, Rob Anderson, Director of Construction Code Education at the Department of Public Safety.
The 9th edition of the MA building code 2015, was supposed to be rolled out July 1, 2016 but is currently on hold. Only the energy code is ready for public hearing. He did hit on a few points, such as the IRC appendix J will be required on all jobs (it is a field assessment). He also spoke about new information on flood plains, new sunroom addition codes, and that sprinklers are still not required unless structure is over 14,000 sq ft.
He offered his assistance in explaining any issues and reminded the audience that all information is on the website. There will also be a transition period after the new code is rolled out that you can still adhere to the old code, probably 6 months.
Rob has graciously agreed to share is presentation. You can access it here: DOWNLOAD.
Thanks to everyone who came!!! Our next EM NARI membership dinner is our Inspectors Panel on September 7th. More information to come!
