The team at Feinmann, Inc. has much to celebrate this year. In March, they were awarded both gold and silver EM NARI CotY Awards for projects entered in the local Eastern Massachusetts Chapter competition. April cast Feinmann back into the spotlight – this time on a national stage - as they took home gold in the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) CotY Awards in the Historical Renovation / Restoration category. Both the local and national awards competition winners are determined by an impartial panel of judges who are experts within the industry and associated fields. Winners are based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation, degree of difficulty and entry presentation.
2015 EM NARI COTY AWARDS: GOLD WINNER RESIDENTIAL KITCHEN $100,000-150,000: WHITE, WAVES AND BLUE KITCHEN
The owners of a contemporary home in Carlisle wanted to update their kitchen, enlarge their center island and improve the connection to the dining room while staying within the existing footprint. Transforming this kitchen with strategic changes, details like the spacing of elements and the use of sleek and textured materials became essential. Simple changes by the Feinmann design/build team generated stunning results.

2015 EM NARI COTY AWARDS: SILVER WINNER RESIDENTIAL BATH OVER $60,000: URBAN FUSION MASTER BATH
In this project, the challenge was to combine two condominium units in a famous Boston landmark into one tasteful, spacious and well-functioning apartment. After the renovation, Unit 1 housed the entrance, kitchen, open floor plan living and dining space, and guest bath. Unit 2 contained the master bathroom, master bedroom, dressing area and guest room. This urban fusion created a spa-like master bath with an elegant curved wall allowing passage from the front vanity to the rear shower and soaking tub space.

2015 NARI COTY AWARDS: NATIONAL GOLD WINNER HISTORICAL RENOVATION / RESTORATION: BAUHAUS LANDMARK RENOVATION
Designated a landmark by the Cambridge Historical Commission, the Garrett Birkhoff House is important for its association with the International Style of architecture including the German Bauhaus movement. The original architect and client were both renowned members of the Harvard faculty, further contributing to its historical significance. When the new homeowners approached Feinmann, they wanted to enlarge and update the kitchen while maintaining ties to its illustrious past. Because of its designation, the outer envelope of the home could not be changed so the challenge for the Feinmann design team was how to modernize the kitchen while referencing the International Style.
