EM NARI Mentorship Program

Mentorship Program GraphicSo many leaders in the remodeling industry attribute part of their success to a mentor. “Having someone who has encountered many of the challenges of growing a business before can be incredible helpful as an emerging business navigates growth,” says Jim Lavallee, EM NARI member and Past-President.  Our chapter has typically informally connected young remodelers, or individuals new to business ownership, with seasoned industry veterans. For years though, there has been discussion about formalizing the relationships. With that, EM NARI is launching a new Mentorship Program this fall.

“The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves.” — Steven Spielberg

The development of the program started as informal conversations – and the vision of late EM NARI President Jim Marcotte.  In Jim’s wife Kim’s words, Jim "so believed in the ability of everyone to reach their potential with the sincere support of others." Jim mentored many emerging business owners at EM NARI and the development of this program is due in large part to his vision.

The EM NARI Mentorship Program is scheduled to launch in October and will run for 9 months. Participants will be paired with an industry veteran mentor. The program will feature a mix of individual and group meetings and will challenge participants to address one personal business goal, and offer group discussions around 2-3 additional focus areas.

The program mentors are remodeling industry business owners with experience leading their business and navigating challenges of business growth.  Most have benefitted from a previous mentor and many have experience in mentoring. They are committed to giving back to the industry and developing a relationship to assist the participant. Their job is not to give the participants the “answers,” but rather to guide them toward discovering how to achieve success.

There is an application to participate in the program. A limited number of participants will be accepted.  If you are an EM NARI member and interested in applying to be considered for the program, complete the MENTORSHIP PROGRAM APPLICATION.  If you have additional questions, feel free to contact Michelle Glassburn at admin@emnari.org.
